Mantigue Island is Camiguin's best spot for snorkeling — here's where the boats leave from, what the marine sanctuary costs, and what to expect once you're there.
Mantigue Island is a small, forested island off Mahinog with a white-sand beach ringed by a protected marine sanctuary. It's the best place on Camiguin for snorkeling — the reef here is healthier and more colorful than most spots closer to the mainland, with sea turtles, giant clams, and reef fish fairly easy to spot.
Boats leave from San Roque port in Mahinog and take about 20 minutes to reach the island. A roundtrip boat costs around ₱750 and covers up to 4 passengers, so it's worth splitting with other travelers if you're not already in a group of four.
There's a ₱75 per-person entrance fee. Snorkeling in the marine sanctuary itself is a further ₱75 per person, and a guide is required at ₱300 — the guide fee can be split across your group. Visits are capped at 3 hours by default; staying longer costs ₱100 per additional hour.
Mantigue has no accommodations, restaurants, or ATMs, so bring cash and anything you need for the day. Table rental is about ₱150 and a shaded shed is about ₱100. Snorkeling gear can be rented at the port before you cross over.
